tcc joins the United Nations Global Compact Initiative

Nicolas Garrelly, Global Head of Sustainability

  • We join 15,268 companies in 163 countries who have already joined the initiative
  • Participants report to the UN annually on their progress across a number of areas, including sustainability, labour conditions and anti-corruption

Today, tcc is pleased to announce it has joined the United Nations Global Compact initiative — a voluntary leadership platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices.

With this announcement, tcc is proud to join thousands of other companies globally committed to taking responsible business action to create the world we all want. To achieve progress, tcc has a team of 6 people working full time on sustainability, social impact and the tcc foundation.

The UN Global Compact is a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and to take action in support of UN goals and issues embodied in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with more than 9,500 companies and 3,000 non-business signatories based in over 160 countries, and more than 70 Local Networks.

Commenting on the news, Simon Hay, CEO, said: “Joining the United Nations Global Compact is an exciting new commitment as part of our mission to generate retail loyalty with purpose. We believe we can have a positive impact by engaging shoppers on food-waste, promoting a more circular economy, and enabling more sustainable behaviours through our campaigns. Joining the Global Compact and reporting annually on our progress demonstrates genuine action and consideration and solidifies our position as a leader in sustainable loyalty solutions."

This news follows tcc’s sustainability focused campaigns for global retailers, such as the recent Re-Generation campaign with Italian supermarket, Coop, that gave a new life to 25m plastic bottles.

tcc joins the Compact alongside global retailers including Lidl, Magnit, Delhaize, Carrefour, Woolworths, Walmart, Aldi, Auchan, Casino, Coop, and Lotte.
